Natalka Lewis (BA, Associate Diploma CSC-CICB) is a dance artist, choreographer and teacher based out of Calgary, AB. In 2010 Natalka received her BA in Contemporary Dance with a specialization in Classical Ballet from the School of Alberta Ballet where she trained and studied pedagogy with renowned teachers including Nancy Kilgour & Joyce Shietze. As a student she performed in student and professional work with various choreographers.
As a teacher Natalka encourages her students to excel to their technical best and to find enjoyment, purpose and fulfillment through art. Natalka holds her Associate Diploma with the Cecchetti Society of Canada and has successfully entered many students into ballet exams since 2010. She recently took a Progressing Ballet Technique US Level 1-3 teaching training workshop. Natalka has received numerous awards for her dances, particularly for her demi-character ballet choreography. Natalka continues to train as a dancer and a teacher locally and abroad. In addition, Natalka is pursuing her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and upon graduation will work primarily with teens and dancers/athletes.
Natalka is an advocate for nurturing the dance community in Calgary and Alberta. In 2013 Natalka founded Trip the Light Dance Company. Through Trip the Light, Natalka has produced work in many arts and dance festivals across Canada, fashion shows, large scale corporate/commercial events, as well as choreographed for music, circus and magic shows including Temporala in Calgary and Las Vegas. Natalka continues to work as a freelance dance artist, teacher, choreographer & adjudicator. She has appeared with several local dance companies and worked as a company dancer with Corps Bara Dance Theater for two seasons. Her choreographic work has been shown in an array of festivals and shows since 2007.
Yvonne Caulder (BGS, ELCC Level 2) grew up mostly playing sports such as Ringette, Field Hockey and Volleyball. It was not until she joined her school Dance program that her love for dancing and performing really began to grow. In school she spent time training in jazz, ballet, African, hip hop and tap; and had the opportunity to perform in many dancing and musical theater productions. As a young adult, Yvonne continued her dance training in Ballet and Tap through the University of Calgary.
Yvonne's passion for working with children and their overall development began when she became a mom. Shortly there after she received her Level 2 Certificate in Early Childhood Education, with a focus on Developmentally Appropriate Practices. Since 2012 Yvonne has been teaching children in several fin arts genres including dance, yoga, fitness and music. Her experience as a children's program coordinator has continued to develop her expertise in teaching children ages 2-8 years old.
Yvonne is currently taking her Education Assistant Certification to continue working side by side with students and enhancing their development. She is passionate to have her students work with a capable mentality to encourage self-reliance and self-esteem. Yvonne is a passionate teacher who loves to share her knowledge and experience with all of her students.
Growing up in Calgary, Samantha has had the opportunity to train with a variety of local studios and performing arts programs including the Young Canadians and Musical Theater Club for Kids. Dance has given Samantha the opportunity to travel across North America, train with some remarkable choreographers and experience many adventures. Samantha has been trained in a variety of styles and is an ADAPT certified teacher.
Over the past ten years with her sister, Kristina, Samantha has been creating a dance program that not only encourages the proper technique in dance but the love and enjoyment that should come from this art form. She loves seeing dancers smile at the end of class because they have accomplished something great and had fun while doing it. Samantha can't wait to introduce more dancers to the joy and passion that can come from dancing and performing.
Kristina began dancing at the age of 4 and quickly joined the studio’s competitive program. After many years of competing and taking exams, Kristina had the privilege of joining the Young Canadians where she trained and performed for 10 years. With the Young Canadians, she was given the opportunity to train in gymnastics, jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, Hip Hop, contemporary, musical theater and vocal. She has been trained by a variety of instructors from around the world, including some coaches from Cirque du Soleil. As a professional, Kristina performed as the lead vocal role in the production and tour of Caillou. She began her teaching career in 2003 and two short years later created a successful recreational program with her sister. Kristina is an ADAPT certified and a registered Acrobatique AcroDance Instructor who loves sharing her passion and love for performing arts with her dancers.
